Magnitudes

Judge which side has more, first with dots and then with fractions

What it looks at

How well you judge amounts at a glance: the dots are far too quick to count, so you have to estimate a proportion, and the fractions ask for the same judgement in numbers. Every trial has a right answer.

How to play

The first part shows two panels of dots. One colour is marked in the key above them; choose the panel where that colour takes the bigger share of the dots. The dots are only on screen for 1.5 seconds, and you have 5 seconds from when they appear.

The second part shows two fractions. Choose the larger one, again within 5 seconds. There are 40 trials in each part, and they get harder as the two amounts move closer together.
